Mark Ridout, Singer-Songwriter.

Cinematic Folk & Ocean Funk

Mark RIdout-Bio (solo)

"Atmospheric & elemental" - Acoustic Magazine (UK)

Singer-songwriter Mark Ridout writes lush and emotive 'cinematic folk'.

Originally from London, this Byron bay-based singer-songwriter has supported the likes of Ed Sheeran (before he got huge) and Kate Miller-Heidke at renowned UK venues such as The Troubadour and The Bedford.

After studying psychology in Bristol, a vibrant music city in the UK, by day he worked in secure psychiatric hospitals and in music therapy, by night playing the Bristol and London acoustic music circuit. Since then he has played hundreds of gigs in his various homes of London, New York and then, Byron bay, where he's lived since 2010.

Mark spent his teenage years playing drums in crazy, sweaty rock bands, also writing poetry on the back of school books and endless notebooks. Fast forward to 2019, loving to share his songs and his heart in intimate events and house concerts, but continues to busk in the streets and markets of Byron Bay, where he has grown so much as a musician, and experienced so much beauty, singing to people face to face, solo, as well as with his ‘ocean funk’ duo - Mark Ridout & the Rhythm.

His voice has been described as "compelling and hugely expressive" (Hotpress Magazine, UK), and in 2018, his song ‘All my Sides’ was featured on Australian indie film; Weavil, a track which can be found on his mix tape: ‘Early Recordings’ - a collection of studio sessions recorded between 2008-2011, which can only found on Bandcamp).

Following a string of monthly single releases, his full length 'cinematic folk' album 'Bravery', is due out early 2020 on all platforms, with production from Garret Kato (Kyle Lionhart, Ziggy Alberts).

...he is also in the process of writing his first novel - ’Parallel Lives and the Doppelgänger Effect’ (this will be out, god-knows-when)
